Just like humans, Artificial Intelligence evolves with time. It becomes smarter, quicker & generally more useful for you to use, however as there are so many different models and tools out there, it can be quite confusing! In this article we have highlighted the differences in the most popular large language model, Chat GPT, and examples of how you can capitalise on the update.

1. Multimodal Input Processing

Task: Analyzing a combination of text and images to generate a cohesive response.

Example: Suppose you need an AI to create a detailed report based on both text data and images of urban development plans.

Prompt:

  • Input to GPT-4: "Analyze the provided images of urban development blueprints and the accompanying text descriptions. Generate a comprehensive report highlighting key design elements, potential issues, and suggestions for improvement."

Why GPT-4 Excels:

  • GPT-4 can process and understand both text and image inputs simultaneously, allowing it to produce a well-rounded and informed response. GPT-3.5, being text-only, would be unable to handle the image data and would therefore not be able to do this task.

2. Extended Contextual Understanding

Task: Maintaining coherence and relevance over longer, more complex interactions.

Example: Writing a multi-chapter book with consistent themes, character development, and plot progression.

Prompt:

  • Input to GPT-4: "Continue the novel from where we left off in Chapter 5. Ensure that the character development aligns with previous chapters, and introduce a plot twist that builds on the established story arcs."

Why GPT-4 Excels:

  • GPT-4 has enhanced context handling, allowing it to remember and incorporate details from previous chapters more effectively than GPT-3.5. This leads to a more coherent and engaging narrative over extended text.

3. Enhanced Conversational AI for Customer Support

Task: Providing detailed and contextually accurate responses in a customer service chatbot.

Example: Assisting customers with complex technical issues by understanding and building on prior interactions.

Prompt:

  • Input to GPT-4: "A customer is experiencing connectivity issues with their home internet. Based on the previous conversation where they mentioned trying to reset their router, guide them through advanced troubleshooting steps."

Why GPT-4 Excels:

  • GPT-4’s improved memory and contextual capabilities mean it can better track ongoing conversations and provide more accurate, helpful responses. GPT-3.5 might struggle to maintain the necessary context, leading to repetitive or less useful advice.

4. Complex Problem-Solving

Task: Solving advanced mathematical problems or providing detailed scientific explanations.

Example: Solving a set of differential equations or explaining a complex scientific concept in layman's terms.

Prompt:

  • Input to GPT-4: "Solve the following system of differential equations and explain each step of the solution process. Additionally, provide a simplified explanation of the underlying principles for a non-expert audience."

Why GPT-4 Excels:

  • GPT-4's enhanced processing power allows it to handle complex mathematical computations more effectively and explain sophisticated concepts in a way that is accessible to a broader audience. GPT-3.5, while capable, might not achieve the same level of detail and clarity.

5. Detailed Creative Tasks

Task: Generating intricate and creative content like detailed character bios, plot outlines, or artistic critiques.

Example: Creating in-depth character profiles for a novel, including backstory, motivations, and relationships.

Prompt:

  • Input to GPT-4: "Generate a detailed character profile for the protagonist of a fantasy novel. Include their backstory, personality traits, key relationships, and how their past influences their motivations throughout the story."

Why GPT-4 Excels:

  • GPT-4 can produce more nuanced and detailed creative content, taking into account various aspects of character development and narrative complexity. GPT-3.5, while competent, may not reach the same depth of detail and coherence in such intricate tasks.

By understanding and utilising the specific strengths of GPT-4, you can enhance productivity, achieve more sophisticated outputs, and unlock new possibilities for AI-assisted tasks that were previously out of reach with GPT-3.5.
